The MSA W65-2/W 65 filter self-rescuer protects against carbon monoxide (CO) and other harmful gases that may be generated during mine fires or explosions. This filter respirator is an escape device for single use. The filter self-rescuer is ready for use immediately after it is opened and removed from the case. It has a latex-free mouthpiece and a nose clip that reliably protects the user from inhaling the contaminated ambient air. The adjustable headband allows for a snug fit and free hands. The rugged stainless steel housing is airtight sealed and provides durable protection for the respirator. The W95 is a filter self-rescuer designed for long escape routes and is available with an integrated belt buckle (W 95 BL). The CO filter uses a precious metal catalyst and a Hopkalite pre-filter. The unique combination provides high breathing comfort together with reduced breathing resistance and temperature. The operating time is more than 4 hours.
